Google offers a remarkable tool to help us track website traffic patterns and provides invaluable, detailed reports of the results. Â We utilize this on websites to help clients make informed decisions about changes or improvements to their websites. Â This information is great - as long as you know how to make heads or tails of it. Â To help with that, I’m going to break down the major indictors.
Bounce Rate: This number represents the number of visitors that came to your website and then left without visiting another page on your website. A high bounce rate is a major problem, especially if it is your homepage.
Exit Rate: This number represents how many people left your website on the given page, regardless of the entry page. For example, if you type in an address, click on a link on the homepage, and the close your browser, this counts towards the exit rate of the last page you were on.
Visits: This number represents the total number of unique visitors to your website.
Page Views: This number represents the total number of times that any of your pages were accessed.
Pages/Visit: Like the name implies, this breaks down the number of pages a unique visitor viewed before exiting your website.
